You know you’re staying at work too long when this happens…

Darn it!! This is the second time this has happened since school started. The first time, I actually had to go back and get a custodian to unlock the gate!
Anyway, school has started wonderfully, and the students seem ready to get into the swing of things. I’ve got to say that it’s really great to have the same group of kids for a second year. I know them, they know me, and their parents know me. Just today I ran into the dad and mom of a pair of brothers in one of my classes. They were just visiting school “checking in” on their sons. YES!!!!!…I LOVE it when parents do this, although I’m certainly glad that mine never did :)
I always hated that feeling of walking to an empty parking lot! I did it a few times too.
Yes, one of the nicest things about teaching at the same school for several years in a row is getting to know the families that send their kids there. I have had cases of teaching all the children in one family, or teaching a kid and then his/her cousins. It’s great when they know you and they respect the work you do -one of the things that makes it all worthwhile.
Dooood! Forget the custodial staff. Mount that cow-catcher to yer front grill, throw it in first, pop that clutch, lay a patch, and gun that metallic projectile right towards the gate! You’ll be outta there in no time.
Of course, da first words you’ll hear the next morning will come from Mr. S.’s mouth, “Uuuhh-errr, Mr. Hunsberger, can I see you in my office…..”
Love the cow-catcher idea…..wondering if installing one on the Honda Civic would be in violation of my lease terms.
